That sounds a lot more sensible than ticking boxes in a flimsy book covered in eosin stains! I still have my logbook festering in my parent's attic. I sometimes think about going back to it when I'm feeling sorry for myself. Then I remember how much I got paid (you'll know all about that!) and how my (then)other half refused to get a fulltime job so we lived on air. I went off to become a chartered accountant (when you're a scientist it is difficult to find that exciting!)which allowed us to eat, but bored the socks off me. I now work as a Finance Manager in Primary Care which I think is a compromise between what I would do if I married into money and what I have to do to pay the rent!

Well they stopped the log book a couple of years ago now...apparently as pat of the initiative to get scientists doing more multi-diciplinary work [is that spelled right?!] they now use a generic portfolio, so that scientists from all diciplines fill in the same portfolio. I am also glad though that I didn't have to have the 'blue book viva'! Although I've no plans to be a BMS right now, I'd done the work (as part of my placement year too) and thought it would be daft to waste it!

Congratulations! I did my degree in Biomedical Science and did my year out in a Microbiology lab, where I completed the dreaded log book. In the end I never had to face the viva as I didn't get a date through before my graduate training scheme started - I hear from my old course mates that it is more than a little nerve racking! Hope you are having a good night out to celebrate. Good luck with the PhD and well played that girl!

yeah its bollocks. on the plus side, i moved from supposedly the best town (epsom) to the second worst (nottingham) and the difference ain't all that.

i am certain there must be at least more than one place in the UK thats more of a hole than nottingham, which is by no means a hole at all!

but some of notts is utter scum so i can kinda see why it came where it did...
